Postpartum Support

Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers – strong, competent, capable mothers who TRUST themselves and KNOW their inner strength.

-Barbara Katz Rothman

As a postpartum doula my goal is to support families in the first few months after the birth of a child by providing a nurturing space that helps them build confidence and find their own parenting wisdom. The simple act of sitting and listening to new families while providing guidance and encouragement can bring a sense of comfort and calm that helps them adjust to their new roles as parents.

An important aspect of my postpartum doula practice is cooking healthy, delicious meals and creating an environment of care and nurturing. Based on your dietary preferences, I come to your home and batch-cook meals for you to have on hand throughout the week. There’s something so comforting about the sound of someone cooking in the kitchen and the smell of delicious food in the house.

Services also include:

  • Providing emotional support to parents

  • Help with newborn care including diapering, bathing and swaddling

  • Care for baby while parents nap or shower

  • Help with older siblings as they adjust to the new family dynamic

  • Process birth story with parents

  • Cook delicious and nourishing meals

  • Assist with establishing breastfeeding

  • Help pets adjust to the new family member

  • Screen for perinatal mental health disorders and make referrals when necessary
